Every Design Begins Somewhere…

Hi everyone! My goal with this blog is to center it on the word, and definition of, design. While reading Diane Bender’s textbook, Design Portfolios Moving from Traditional to Digital, a few days ago I was really struck by this paragraph…

“You are a designer: a person who creates things. You solve problems. You create alternative solutions to meet the needs of a client, and you communicate these solutions in appropriate ways. You are not an artist; art is your own personal expression. Design is a logical problem-solving activity that ends in a plan with anticipated outcomes. It is not haphazard or accidental. Designers use both deductive reasoning (from general to specific) and inductive reasoning (from specific to general) in the creative process.”

The design process and design as a whole greatly interest me and whenever I browse the internet or look through design blogs I am really drawn to residential spaces, architecture, sustainable design, innovation, products, and feats of engineering. I plan on breaking up this blog into a myriad of topics that all fit under the definition of design.

If any of this sounds interesting to you I hope that you will stop by every once in a while to see what I have found. Feel free to leave me comments or even share some of your own personal design favorites. Thanks for reading!
